Vayu Cart Fields: Gift Message: setup guide
Works with any Online Store 2.0 theme (Dawn, Refresh, Sense, Craft and theme-store or custom 2.0 themes). No theme code changes are needed. The app adds to your theme only through Shopify theme app extensions.
1. Install and open the app
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions.
- Open it from Apps in your Shopify admin.
2. Set it up in the app
- In Vayu Cart Fields, click Add field. Choose the type (text, gift message, date, checkbox, dropdown), the label and whether it is required. Click Save.
- Answers are saved with the order and appear under Additional details on the order page in your Shopify admin.
3. Add it to your theme
Fastest way: on the app's home page use the Add to theme / Open theme editor buttons, which open the theme editor with the block added or the embed turned on. Then click Save.
Or do it by hand:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes, and click Customize on your current theme.
- App embed "Cart fields in drawer": click the App embeds icon in the left sidebar, turn on Cart fields in drawer, then click Save. Shows your fields in the slide-out cart drawer, for themes that use one.
- App block "Cart fields": choose the Cart template from the page selector at the top of the editor. In the section where you want it (usually the main cart section), click Add block, open the Apps tab if shown, choose Cart fields, drag it into position, then click Save. Shows your fields on the cart page.
4. Check it
- Open your storefront (or click Preview in the theme editor) and view a page that matches your settings.
- If nothing shows, make sure the block or embed is saved in the current theme and that the app's settings are saved.
Removing the app
Uninstalling removes the app blocks and embeds automatically. No leftover code stays in your theme.
